Votely privacy policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Votely: Polls & Waitlist (“Votely”, “we”) is a Shopify app that lets merchants run product polls on their online store and collect a launch waitlist. This policy explains what data the app processes and why.
Data from merchants
- Store domain and the access token Shopify issues when you install the app, used to run the app in your Shopify admin.
- Polls you create: questions, options, images, linked products, status and end dates.
- Your Votely plan, read from Shopify, used to apply plan limits.
Data from your customers
- Votes. To count one vote per person, we store a one-way hash of a random browser ID (kept in the customer’s browser storage) or of the customer account ID if they are logged in. We cannot recover the original ID from the hash.
- Waitlist contacts. Only if a customer chooses to join the waitlist, we store the contact details the merchant asks for — name, email address and/or phone number — and the option they voted for. Merchants can view and export these contacts.
- IP address. Used only in memory to limit abusive request rates. We do not store it.
We do not use cookies for tracking, we do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where data is stored
Data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database in Western Europe and processed by Cloudflare Workers. Shopify and Cloudflare act as our service providers.
Retention and deletion
- Deleting a poll deletes its options, votes and waitlist contacts.
- When a merchant uninstalls Votely, Shopify asks us to erase the store’s data within 48 hours, and we delete all of it.
- When a customer asks a merchant to delete their data, Shopify notifies us and we delete that customer’s contact details and votes.
Your rights
Customers can ask the merchant whose store they visited to access or delete their data. Merchants can contact us for any request about data processed by Votely.
